Established in Corsica by Phocéens into 535 before JC, the vine is one of the bases of the Corsican culture.
In the south of the island two A.O.C “Oporto-Vecchio” and “Figari” produce wines whose reputation does nothing but grow. They are containing Corsican traditional type of vines, niellucciu, sciacamellu, calajulo for the reds and the rosy ones, malvasia for the white.
The reds with the black and red fruit flavours have a great capacity of ageing.
The rosy ones and the white, sharp, aromatic and highly-strung person will give you an immediate pleasure.
The vine growers of the area will be happy to accomodate you and to make you taste their wines in their cellars.
