Thousand-year-old city and rudder of Corsica, Bonifacio draws his name from a marquis from Tuscany, Boniface, time of the supervision génoise which bequeathed an original language to him nearer to the Ligurian than of Corsican.
Bonifacio nothing made forever like the other cities. It resisted to the invaders Turkish and Aragonese, protected well by his impregnable citadel, the seats which it underwent, so long are they, never made it capitulate.
It is in this context that the heart bonifacian was forged. Today very whole dedicated to tourism, the city knew to exploit without disavowing it its only true natural richness: its exceptional beauty.
The visitor will not fail to go for a walk at sea, to discover the caves or the Natural Reserve of Lavezzi, or to take the covered way of the citadel with an impregnable point of view on Sardinia. A dinner on the old port or an escapade in the lanes of the upper town is as many pleasures to enjoy.
