To 9 km in the north of Zonza in direction of Solenzara, the Solid mass of Bavella is certainly one of the most majestic sites of the Corsica South.

The Collar of Bavella is located at 1218 m of altitude, a large esplanade of greenery covered with pines twisted by the winds opens on the seizing panorama of the Needles which can reach vertiginous heights.
Each year on August 8 a pélerinage takes place with Notre Dame of Snows, the statue of the Virgin that the faithful ones surround by ex-voto. On the Eastern slope of small sheet and stone sheep-folds built between the pines lariccio form picturesque “the village of summer of Bavella”.

The forest of Bavella of a surface of 1100 ha extends from 500 to 1300 meters of altitude. Devastated on several occasions by fires, it was the subject of an important afforestation and became national reserve.
